Hey there, and thank you for visiting!

My name is Tim Windend, and I love smiling. I am also an architect residing in Japan, and I dream of becoming a talesmith.

Ever since I was a child, I was good at math and science but had a deep interest in history, religion, and philosophy.

In 2002, my father visited Japan during the FIFA World Cup and brought me many presents. Katana, kimono, and chopsticks, among others. I was six years old then, and those gifts profoundly shaped my future.

I became fascinated by Japanese culture. In my free time, I studied history and myths, as well as some popular culture. I was also obsessed with my Aikido classes (thank you, Steven Seagal).

In 2017, after graduating from university, I decided to move to Japan. While waiting at the airport, my first thoughts about Naikirin struck me. There was not even a word “Naikirin” yet—just an idea of islands covered in winds, rains, and mists.

Ever since I started living in Japan, the world of Naikirin—heavily influenced by Japanese culture—began to grow in my mind. And I made notes along the way. At that time, I had no idea what I was going to do with it. Still, it was an important hobby that helped me stay vigilant and fight loneliness in a different country and culture.

A couple of years ago, I noticed that my hobby was taking on the appearance of a book. So I structured my notes and started writing. I just started, even though I have no linguistic education or experience in writing whatsoever. But it felt like the right thing to do—something I wanted to do with all my heart.

I enjoy writing; I really do. I wish to study the art of storytelling and explore where the tales of Naikirin might take me. Feel free to explore my site, read about Naikirin, or get in touch. Let’s embark on this journey together!
